If you’re in the Philippines on the 1st of November one of most important religious events is All Saints Day when Filipinos visit cemeteries to remember their departed loved ones. They can spend the whole night (or two) sitting by the graves. It also gives relatives a chance to clean up the graves while decorating them with candles and flowers. Far from being a solemn, groups of families camp, eat, drink, offer prayers, play cards and more.
For this one night, cemeteries across the country are packed with families and friends as well as being lite up by the thousands of candles decorating the grave. If your a tourist from overseas its a great way to see one of the Philippines Catholic culture celebrations.
I have added a video to Youtube of All Saints Day in the Philippines you can check out.
