The best beaches in Cebu

Cebu is located in the Visayas the central part of the Philippines and this, apart from Palawan, is where you are going to find most of the Philippines most stunning beaches. The most famous of all the beaches in the Visayas is Boracay (and rightly so) with its gorgeous white sand and beautiful aqua waters, but did you know Cebu has some beaches that are equally as beautiful and without the crowds. If you’re coming for a holiday in Cebu, you cannot miss the chance to chill out on some amazing tropical beaches. So below I have compiled a list of the best beaches in Cebu and some other beautiful beaches that are within easy reach of Cebu that you need to check out.

Bantayan Island Beach

Bantayan Island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines.. and no crowds!

Bantayan Island

One of Cebu’s truly amazing islands with picture perfect beaches is Bantayan. Located at the top of Cebu, a few hours trip from Cebu City is this incredible island. I have been here over a dozen times and always look forward to my next trip back there. Bantayan’s best beaches are located around the South Eastern side of the island (around the town of Sta Fe) and that’s where you will find most of Bantayan Island Resorts as well. Most of the resorts are pretty low key and laid back, in fact the town of Sta Fe is laid back place as well. It’s basically a one street town with half a dozen or so of restaurants and bars. Visit our website for more detailed guide to Bantayan Island including list of the resorts in Bantayan.

Paradise Beach in Bantayan Island Cebu

Beautiful Paradise Beach Bantayan Island Cebu

Paradise Beach (Bantayan Island)

Not as well known, as it’s a bit difficult to reach (you need a boat to get there). It’s located 15 or 20 minutes away from the main tourist area of Sta Fe Beaches, is this little gem of a beach. Not much around except the white sand and the clear aqua waters, a wonderful place to chill, sun bake or just go for a swim. A couple times I have visited I had the whole beach to myself. True to the name it does feel like paradise! More details at the same Bantayan Island link above.

Virgin Island Bantayan

Stunning Virgin Island

Virgin Island (Bantayan Island)

There is more than one Virgin Island in the Philippines, I reckon this one is the best! Virgin means untouched and this is pretty much sums up Virgin Island, no resorts, no cars, just a beautiful tiny tropical island. Located only a short boat ride from Bantayan Island itself and makes a great day trip. One corner of the island is blessed with a gorgeous strip of white sand and beautiful tropical waters to swim at. The island only has a small basic sari sari store (selling drinks and simple snacks) so it’s best to bring your own food. There are a few barbeque grills and cottages for rent. A great place to relax, again for more details check the link of resorts in Bantayan above.

Kinatarkan Island Cebu Philippines

Beautiful Kinatarkan Island in Cebu

Kinatarkan Island (Bantayan Island)

Around 1 hours boat ride from Bantayan Island is the beautiful Island of Kinatarkan. This island is a bit off the tourist radar which is surprising as is a stunning beautiful island, some of its beaches are amazing. As far as tourist infrastructure, there is none. The islandĀ  has a few fishing villages dotted around the island which has help kept it unspoilt and beautiful. The island makes a great day trip from Bantayan and you want to get away from it all this is the place to do it. This is one island primed for tourism in the future. So see it now!

Malapascua Island Cebu

Bounty Beach in Malapascua Island

Malapascua Island

If Bantayan Island isn’t enough for you (how much of just beach bumming can you do?) Malapascua Island (again located in Cebu’s north) offers beautiful beaches for those wishing to laze under the tropical rays but it also offers tourists some wonderful underwater experiences as well, most famously one of the few places in the world you can dive to see the thresher shark (on a regular basis). The most popular beach on Malapascua is Bounty Beach which has been dubbed the mini Boracay, personally I think this is stretching it a bit and I think the locals and tourists rather it not turn into another Boracay, it’s just perfect the way it is. A few minutes walk from Bounty Beach is the quaint Poblacion Beach, while not quite as impressive as Bounty, it’s still a nice little stretch of beach. For those who love a beach with a bit more seclusion on the northern end of Malapascua is the resort of Bantigue Cove with a lovely little beach. Not only that, a few minutes walk from the resort is another stretch of gorgeous white sand beach.
